Ways To Work Avocado Powder Into Your Breakfast

You might not immediately think of avocado powder as a breakfast item. It seems like more of a savory item — a base for dips or for spreads that you'd put on your sandwich for lunch. Indeed, many people who buy avocado powder use it for lunch and dinner. But if you would rather incorporate it into your breakfast, then that's totally doable. Here are some ways that you can do that.

Make Avocado Spread for Toast

Avocado toast is a breakfast item that has really become popular over the past few years. Sure, you can make it with fresh avocado, but if all you have on-hand is powdered avocado, you can make that work. Start by re-hydrating about 2 tablespoons of avocado powder with 1 1/2 tablespoons water and 1 teaspoon of lemon juice. Let it sit for 5 minutes so that all of the liquid can be absorbed. Then, spread the rehydrated avocado powder on toast, and top it with anything else you like. Some slices of tomato sprinkled with salt are a nice addition. Or, you could add a couple of strips of bacon. This makes for a really filling and savory breakfast.

Make a Green Smoothie

You typically think of a green smoothie as being one with spinach, kale, or some other greens. But you can make a somewhat different green smoothie with avocado powder. Put in all of your favorite ingredients — anything from strawberries to banana — and then add a few tablespoons of avocado powder. Not only will the powder make your smoothie green, but it will add some creaminess to it. If you like to make vegan smoothies, it can be a good substitute for yogurt or milk.

Make a Breakfast Sandwich Spread

You may think of avocado sandwich spread as being for lunch sandwiches, but it can be a good option for breakfast sandwiches. Make a simple avocado sandwich spread by mixing together 1 tablespoon of avocado powder, 2 teaspoons of water, 1 teaspoon of mayonnaise, and a pinch of onion powder. Add a little salt for flavor. Spread this on your bagel before stacking on your other sandwich fillings, like egg and sausage. In the end, you'll have a really unique breakfast sandwich that you'll probably make again.

There are plenty of ways to work avocado powder into your breakfast. It's a healthy and delicious ingredient, and it really can fit into any meal.
